HISTORY
When the church was originally formed, it consisted of two separate manorial chapels, built side by side. The earlier one was St Radegund and was built in the 12th Century and the smaller St Mary chapel added around 1200. An arcade separates the two, and was built in the late 12th Century Island style, with round piers. The chapel of St Mary was widened in the 16th Century, as an aisle to the newly combined church. It was extended to alight with the east end of St hadegund.
The octagonal pulpit is 17th century and is one of the finest examples on the Island, with three tiers of decoration. In the south chapel, there is an altar table of the same period.
The pipe organ dates from 1860, and was made by the builder Bevington. In 1899 it underwent restoration and extension.
POST OFFICE
In 2007, the village Post Office was relocated into the church, in the bell tower, and is open on Monday and Friday mornings.
