The Bees are an acclaimed indie and psychedelic rock band from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, known for their distinctive blend of 1960s-inspired psychedelia, garage rock, soul, reggae, jazz and country. Formed around Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher, the band gained national recognition with their 2002 debut album 'Sunshine Hit Me', which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and famously recorded in a home studio in Butler's parents' garden.
Their follow-up, 'Free the Bees', was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and included the infectious single 'Chicken Payback'. Over four albums, The Bees have built a reputation for their warm, eclectic sound and inventive musicianship, becoming one of the Isle of Wight's best-known musical exports.
