Ventnor Friends of Wight Horticulture is small Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight.
We are run by volunteers and have members from all areas of the Island, and on the mainland, and are proud to have Mike Fitt OBE, FCIHort, FCMI as our President.
We have a shared love of gardens and the natural environment, and a proud record of achievement since our formation in 1987. The aims of ‘The Friends’ are now to promote education in botany, horticulture, ecology and environmental science across the Isle of Wight, instead of solely at the Ventnor's botanic garden. We do this by organising educational and social events including talks, walks, outings and workshops.
An important focus of our work is to provide encouragement and support for students pursuing a career in horticulture.
Recognising the importance and value of open spaces, we offer support for appropriate projects which advance mental and physical health and wellbeing in parks and gardens on the Island.
