English Country Dancing at Niton Village Hall.
We meet every Tuesday from 10.00am to 11:30am.
Come and join us and dance for fun. There's a very small charge, but this includes tea and biscuits.
All welcome and no experience necessary. It's gentle exercise for the body and brain and in friendly surroundings.
About
English country dancing is a social folk dance form that originated in England during the 17th and 18th centuries. Dancers form sets, often in long rows, and perform a series of figures that involve interacting with their partners and other dancers in the set. A caller guides dancers through the steps and figures, which can be set to various rhythms like jigs, marches, or waltzes.
It is a progressive dance, meaning dancers usually move on to dance with different partners throughout the dance.
